I'm off to a market ...

the Feilding Craft Market in fact.  Now it is technically my first market (I try to forget the one I attended at the beginning of Decmber where no-one came and then I was surrounded by a motorcycle club - yes it really did happen and I really am trying to forget!!!).  So, allowing for my bit of artistic licence, this is my first market!!!!

Wonder what's being made here?!

I'm excited, nervous, busy, tired, challenged to name but a few.  I was feeling rather reluctant to tell you that I'm doing a market but then I thought that was ridiculous because you may just be able to offer me some advice, tips, support ..... a shoulder to cry on!

Rainbow bunting

I would really appreciate any comments or feedback on the items I show this week.  Of course, it's not all one-sided I will also be having a GIVEAWAY!!!!!  What's up for grabs?  Bunting of course!  There is the rather lovely rainbow bunting as featured above and below or you may choose a more calming bunting made from reclaimed embroidered linens and doilies, which you can see over here or down below.  The choice is yours.

So how do you enter?  Just leave a comment.  In fact, every comment left this week, on any post, will result in ONE ENTRY TO THE DRAW.  If you fancy a few more then why not mention this giveaway on your blog and get 3 extra entries!

Bunting made with reclaimed vintage table runner which was worn in places

All clear?  Wonderful!  Well good luck with the draw and of course good luck to me!!! xx

That's hilarious about the motorcycle club! I bet there were weird looks from both parties. Better luck this time! I think your bunting is gorgeous. I've been meaning to make some for ages so put me down for rainbow if I win!

Good luck for your market. I have done some craft stalls in the past, and have found that even if you do not sell as much as you would like, the conntections you make with fellow stall holders (well, perhaps not bikers!) and customers is just as important and enjoyable.

I find the difficult bit is not spending the money yo have made on all the gorgeous things that are on offer on the other stalls!

Oh I love that vintage bunting, pretty. Good luck with the market... it has to be better than the last time right? And thanks for the award, now I just have to think of 10 interesting things about myself :-)

Hope the weather held for you....and that you had fun and met lots of contacts... I have a friend who has opened a shop in Martinborough, she is selling old/new and hand crafted things. It's a gorgeous shop...she wanted me to source some hand crafted things to sell....your buntings would go well. If you are interested email me. xx

Poor you and the motorbike club! Reminded me of when I used to go to craft fairs with my leathercraft goods. One time, there had been a storm the night before a show and all the signs had been blown down, directing people to the village hall. I ended up asking directions from a man with a huge scar on his face which turned out to be part of a group of hare-coursers (eek!), got to the bloomin village hall and NOBODY turned up. I ended up losing money, buying greasy bacon sandwiches and mugs of tea to keep me warm!!

I love the bunting, so pretty!

I'm still laughing about that first market (well,it wasn't funny, but it was so disastrous you had to laugh!). I hope this one is an utter success - all you need is people to show up really because Abi your work is superb. Neatly and expertly sewn from what I can see with great fabric choices and lovely design.

In other news, my verification is 'messes'.

Oh you poor thing. Not a great start to market life! Hope this next one goes well for you. I'm sure it will with your gorgeous goodies. Just remember that all markets are quieter than usual at the moment and they will pick up again eventually so stick with it!! I would love to enter your giveaway and I'll blog about it tomorrow.

Don't forget a good cup of coffee is essential at an early morning market. Keeps you warm and awake! I always find catching up with other stallholders is one of the best things about a market! Oh, and display some of that beautiful bunting - it is sure to draw the customers in. I especially love the vintage one. GOOD LUCK!
